Who is Janes?

Janes Family Foods is a Canadian success story in the retail and food service sectors of frozen products.

The family-run Canadian company was founded by Lem Janes Sr. in 1969. After bringing his young family from Estonia to Canada in 1948, he helped pioneer frozen food technology in Canada. Lem Janes Jr joined his father in 1973 and together they built the foundation and set the path to where they are today. He named the company Janes Family Foods in 1992, thirteen years after becoming the sole owner of the original company.
Today Lem Janes Jr., CEO, and Tom Janes, Director of Sustainability, are actively involved in running the company that employs more than 300 people in three Canadian-Food-Inspection-Agency-approved manufacturing facilities in the Greater Toronto Area. Janes provides Canadian consumers from coast-to-coast with a variety of MSC-certified frozen seafood products, as well as frozen chicken and beef products through retail outlets. It also supplies frozen seafood, chicken and beef products for the food service industry, including hotels, restaurants, hospitals and school cafeterias.
